Humble Pie is just as hard to swallow when made in Russia...

Minus $400+ worth of brand new dress clothes purchased to start your new career off in style...

Minus $150 brand new pair of Doc's bought in tradition to reward yourself at the start of each new travel endeavor abroad...

Minus $100+ educational supplies obtained in order to prepare yourself for the awaiting new teaching position...

Minus $? any other fucking thing you have yet to realize is missing...

Referring to yourself as an experienced traveler turned EXPATRIATE prior to having your shit stolen within days of arrival because it doesn't all fit in your locker...

PRICELESS!!!

I only noticed this morning that it was gone.

I guess my intuition was right when I questioned the two most recent arrivals the night before. I specifically remember thinking to myself when heading to the shower... please don't put those two shady Russian fucks in my room (though now thinking back, I believe they may have been Eastern European or Turks). I was pleased when I returned from my shower to see that they would instead be staying in the second room on my floor. Or would they? In fact, I later found out they left shortly there after claiming the hostel was too cold to accomodate them.

I had just finished unpacking all of my shit only about an hour before. Therefore, it was not until this morning that I realized shit was gone. With so much in tow due to a planned extended stay of an entire year, I had way more then could fit in the locker I was provided. I therefore placed the overflow items that I would not be in an immediate need of within an empty locker aside mine. Without a key from the front desk it wouldn't be totally secure... but then, the two girls sharing my room would likely find little use in men's clothing. Furthermore, my camera, laptop and other obvious valuables were locked up safe and the rest could be so as well come morning after an additional key could be obtained from the reception.

Fast forward to said morning. I think I'll wear my new Doc's around town in order to break them in. Maybe a long sleeve dress shirt will provide a little extra warmth while I take to the city. And hey, I just might even put on a fresh pair of underwear...

Wait?

What the?

FUCK!!!!

Welcome to "Rrrroosia"...

Yes, I fully accept the consequences of my amateur like actions. No love loss with my new home. I just hope I can find some suitable replacements.

Thomas...some people don't quite understand the saying, "what is mine is not yours", refering to strangers, of course.

Get this, I just recently had my identity stolen.

This has become a common thing in the USA now.

That's the shits!! I hate to hear stories like that...Thank God it's only material things, however, it still doesn't help your situation. It's coming to the point where one will start taking their belongings to the shower with them.. Evil or Very Mad

Me and a couple of friends were downtown once, in Vancouver, and we caught a guy trying to break into my car. I am not kidding. We are getting out of a restaurant, and there's this hobo-looking dude, trying to pry open the door of my new Lexus! At first, he saw just me, and, I guess thought I was scared of him or something. He was like: "I am gonna kick your ass!", etc. Then, after the two buddise of mine came up as well, and I picked up a piece of plumbing from the ground, so the douchebag doesn't get any ideas, he tried to run off... and ran right into a police cruiser! Hahahaha Needless to say the two big cops that got out of the crusier grabbed him on the spot, esspecially after I told them my story... Laughing

How traumatic for you.

On the practical side, have you looked at the local rubbish tip and sewerage treatment plant for it?

These are the most likely places for it to end up in, once the thief realises what is in their possession.

Well, hopefully his next blog will be something cheerful, then again, he could end up whining about everything, like you did, then we'll have to call the Wahmbulance for him, too. Laughing At least there aren't any mutant mosquitoes this time of year, although Groobs saw a few late in the year in St Pete. Then there's that damned pollution. Laughing
