| I read some stories of heavy drinking of Russians and I like to know if Russian women drink as much as the men or they just sip their vodka while the men drink to the fullest? |

| I've seen women in Moscow drink a shot of vodka in one gulp, same as the men. The women didn't drink as many shots in total as the men. |

Were they anywhere close to Marion Ravenwood's (Karen Allen's) drinking exploits from "Raiders of the Lost Ark" (1981)? That was a great movie.
(Suprisingly?) I didn't encounter heavy-drinking women in Russia on my short holiday earlier this year (in bars and clubs). Two Russian female friends hardly drank alcohol at all. |

Remember that Russia belongs to the Vodka belt (together with Finland, Sweden, Norway and Iceland). In order to keep warm up here, you need lots of calories.
There's a myth that all drink vodka by the glass, but the truth is that in most cases vodka is drunk in companies and always after a toast and always followed a chunk of food. They never gulp down your alcohol in "private isolation".
I would, btw never try to compete with any Russian (any sex) in a drinking competition.
In Sweden (where we live) people (and women) drink shots "in gulps", never use a piece of meat or pickles to "neutrilize" the effect of the alcohol. And on parties, people tend to drink their vodka in a rather individual style. |

| I never saw a Moscow woman drink more than 3 shots and none of the women appeared drunk, just a little tipsy. Women seem to like drinking brandy, more than vodka. An Armenian brandy, Ararat ( 5-star or better ), is popular. The dried fish, pickles or other food is placed on the table to accompany drinking. |

Yeah, again, recently didn't meet any women who drank too much, compared to the guys. Plenty of drunk guys (the norm), but the women I related to were quite in control of their drinking. And, gomer's right, vodka seems to be more popular with the guys. The women I met there there mainly drank wines. |

That's right and it is also the case in former soviet republics. More generally, I have never seen female heavy drinker in any country I visited, women are quite reasonable with alcohol except Great Britain. Don't challenge a British girl you could regret it |
