Time is a pretty crappy (and very thin) magazine. The Economist is 5 times better in depth and extend of the news and business coverage. Putin definitely made a huge difference on how Russia has developed since 1998. I am not sure why they chose him this particular year. I guess they did not have any better ideas on how to sell more magazines. Sucking up to the biggest oil baron in the world seemed to have worked.

Time magazine is thin...it doesn't have all those ads in it. Time has been around for along time. Sometimes because you get on the cover of it doesn't mean you are praised.

Interesting article...would definitely change the way we think about time. I could go back in time and "fix" certain things...

I could care less if The Economist was the world leader in news coverage. My interest was in what was thought of the article as was written in Time, and the merits of its conclusions. Try staying on topic.

I thought the article was very lacking and very timid. Time needs better journalists.

In what way was it timid? What would have constituted a more aggressive approach, and would it have succeeded in getting better answers out of Putin, or simply causing him to drop the interview altogether?

respect gets respect and Putin I am sure thought the interview was a joke and therefor controlled it...which means the journalist obviously was an amatuer

Well, I admit that when I read it, I got the feeling that the journalist was intimidated by Putin, to some degree at least. There were certain questions that were pure fluff, and others that were strong, but perhaps not as strong as they needed to be.
