Hello,
I am planning on traveling to St. Petersburg, Russia in thoughts of chasing a girl that I know that lives there. She lives on Bolshoi Prospekt in Saint-Petersburg. I dont her to know that I am coming so that I surpise her. But I don't know anyone else that lives there to ask these questions, so I am here to ask you for help...
I have been looking on Orbitz for a round trip airplane ticket and I found one for under $800usd, with one stop in germany both ways. Is this a descent deal?
Also I will need a hotel and found one (Hotel Sonata) on 51, Bolshoy prospect, Petrograd side. First question... Is this the same as Bolshoi Prospekt? and Is this close to where she lives? I have more info on her address, I just dont want to post it on her. I guess I am asking how hard would it be to find her, Is Bolshoi Prospekt big?
Secondly the hotel is 61 Eur. From what I could tell this seems pretty cheap, especially if it is close to her. (around $90usd)?
Is there anything else that I should do or know?
Any info from anybody will extremely helpful and greatly appreciated.
Thank You |

You could try this one:-
http://www.stonyisland.ru/en/
I have stayed there and it was very pleasant, but it is more expensive than the one you were looking at. |

Thanks, That one looks nice!
Th reason I want a cheap room is because I am not planning on spending a lot of in it. But this one isn't much more expensive.
Did you eat at the restraunt?
And I am just wondering if know if they give Visas there? |

Only breakfast, snacks and coffee. All good quality.

Not sure what you mean by this. The hotel doesn't issue travel visas, you have to apply in advance to the Russian Consulate/Embassy in the USA for a tourist visa.
If you mean, will they register your visa on arrival, the answer is yes.
Or then again, do you mean a letter of invitation for you to obtain a tourist visa? Don't know.
Or maybe you mean, do they take Visa credit cards? Yes. |

Sorry, I meant to ask will they register your visa on arrival, and a letter of invitation for you to obtain a tourist visa?
But you answered them both, thanks |

| There are 2 streets named Bolshoi prospect in St.Petersburg - in Vasilievsky ostrov and Petrogrd side area, usually mentioned respectively V.O. Bolshoi and P.S. Bolshoi? Do you know which of them exactly? Then I shall give you hotel advice as a local from St.Petersburg. |

To be honest I dont really know!!
All I know right now is that I am going in March becuase my friend said that she will have some time off due to a holiday. I am going to try to arrive in Russia on Wed. and leave on Mon.
I am not sure what flight, so far I have found orbitz to be the cheapest way and that will probably make me use Lufthansa.
Thank you for your help!! |

I have found about 20 hotels in the region you are interested in - having called to 2 of them, I have found available single rooms at about $80 (according to today's exchange rate).
I can help you with booking - it looks like it is easier from here (even the Sonata has got rooms in March). Probably, some 5% off their rack rate I shall be able to offer. |

First, Thank you, I really appreciate the help!!!
I thank you for the offer, but becuase I am not sure of when I am leaving yet, I think that it would be easier for me if I booked it myself. Also becuase I might need to get an invitation for a visa.
But if you could get me some names of hotels so that I can look at them that would be great.
Thanks again. |
