Your right Soundbrigade...YOURBCBUD aka "Ducky" is very useless on these threads, he has no idea about politics or history of Russia or the World..very small minded Canadian. He hates all people who aren't like him...small country boy from the mountains. If you look at all his threads he needs to cut people up to make himself look big. If you read my rants it's always fighting with BC because he's rude with no class. So you aren't the first one on here that has a problem with him. Also, he tries very hard to pick up women on here (Private IM's them).  |

The fact the oppostion to Kremlin has been murdered, jailed or exiled. There is nothing wrong with the regime. |

Yes true...but Paul...really is anything new in Russia...things are just going back to how they were...Putin is tightening up the reigns again. Knock on wood...I have had no problems thus far in the UKraine...haven't really seen the police, easy to travel, entering the country was a breeze, and yeah no complaints thus far. |

Surf, has the food in the Ukraine? Since you been to Russia what are some of the differences that you see between the two States (Russia &Ukraine)? It can be anything you like to share with us. |

I love Russia and the Russian people. I have worked there and lived there and celebrate the 13th anniversy (13 years married to a great Russian woman).
I have tried to understand some about Russia, but as Winston Churchill once said: Russia is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma. There's very little I understand though I have tried hard to get some kind of view of this country.
It wasn't until I read I brick-sized book that started "back then" in the 9th century I could understand a little. Russia has never been a democracy in our European terms, and will never be. The tsars, prime secretaries, generallissimos, presidents has never seen the people as something else as pieces on a chessboard. What Putin is doing is what the tsars did, and Yeltsin and Stalin and whoever you can think of.
If someone believe that reading a few articles written by a professional ranter on the web gives ALL information about Russia and the Russians - that person is a ... d@rn fooled jerk. You will never get any information by reading political rant.
However, Russia is a working (almost) society where people have a number of liberties, just like we, though the government is not 100% tolerant. If you live a normal life, if you avoid making too much noise - life is great (almost).
I don't mean to nullify the oppression in Russia, but still think about this - is it/was it OK to have a different view about terrorism, about the ruling government in Palestine (Hamas elected in democratic elections), about islam, about Iraq, Iran ....in your countries. I'd say - that kind of humiliating questions I had to answer to get a visa to USA, have I never seen on a similar document traveling to Russia.
On the other hand, this kind of discussion is POLITICAL and doesn't really fit in a forum for discussians about Russian women or Myths. It belongs to another forum, another discussion.
I would even say that anyone that spreads this kind of "ready-eaten" stuff only does this to ruin the group. |

What is your excuse that you can't even write about Russian politics, society and culture??? I think you spend most of your time here like everyone says, to start fights and play English teacher. Leave for good or participate in the forum about Russia. |

Come on Stephen. I really meant it when I said I didn't want you to leave. And Jojo is right, you've kind of been flaming my posts for a while. I haven't been harassing you( note the spelling) My responses to you are invariably polite and courteous. Lighten up, buddy. It's just reality.
This thread is about Russia, I mean, other than the flames from you and the Swedish dude, who hasn't yet figured out that I'm defending Putin, and Russia, in every one of my posts.  |
