I would advise you CHANEL number 5.
It is a world famous perfume and a sure value but quite expansive...

The 7.5 ml bottle will cost you at least 100 USD but only one drop of this perfume is enough for a whole day.

From a woman's perspective, Yes, I agree with Mister Wizz. Chanel No.5 is a great perfume. Most any Chanel perfumes are the best, but No. 5 is the top selling perfume.

If not, the Ralph Lauren perfumes are great too. Top selling perfumes in Ralph Lauren are "Romance" and "Glamourous", those are my favorites.

Hey, If you cannot really afford the Chanel No.5, if you really want to suck up to her (GF)...being sincere of course....get her Estee Lauder's "Beautiful". Tell her that she is so beautiful that you had to buy her this perfume because it reminded you how beautiful she is and she deserves the nicest perfume. I am sure they have Estee Lauder perfumes in Russia. She will eat out of your hands and might make you a dinner you will never forget. Then give her mother the same and tell her that she deserves this as well for raising such a beautiful woman. Trust me! Wink

I dont really care if it is expensive or something, because I'm already out about $1500 anyway for the plane ticket and visa and stuff. I will definitely get the Chanel No. 5. and take a look at the Estee Lauder.

Thank you,

I bought a flacon of Red Door to my wife-to-be as the mystery scent of that perfume matched her and her origin.

But as we say in Sweden "The taste is like your butt - split". If you know her well enough you would be able to guess.

Ha Ha Ha..."The taste is like your butt". That is the funniest remark I have heard in awhile. Never thought about putting it to those terms before. You are right though..... Very Happy

In Swedish it's "Smaken är som baken - delad". That rhymes. It doesn't come out that good in English.

There was a Russian scent called Red Star or Red Square many years ago. Looked for it everywhere when I lived in Russia but never found it.

Since you know this girl well, why not just tell her that you want to buy her some good perfume and ask her which one she prefers?

Some people just do not like Chanel, much to the amazement of the French.

I wonder if it is similar to "Red Door"? It is by Elizabeth Arden. It is a nice perfume. It was one of my favorites. Believe it or not, most younger women prefer more softer scents like "Romance" or Ralph Lauren perfumes. Older women like the more stronger scents because their nose starts to lose their smell. Sounds crazy but that is why older women smell so strong when they put on perfumes, They cannot smell it. I like Chanel No. 5 because it last and you only need a dab on the neck and wrist, women young and old tend to put too much on with that one.

Nikir is right though, maybe you should ask her, but it won't be a surprise thought.

Yeah, you just don't buy any perfume (no matter how expensive/famous it is) for your girlfriend. Some scents are more subtle, some less so. Some more floral or more fruity, while other perfumes are maybe like methylated spirits or acetone (perhaps I exaggerate). Anyway, you've got to know what she likes. Smile So, this type of gift is given when you know her quite well.

Why not later just head to the local Russian glitterring perfumery with her, and let her go crazy sampling the products with you by her side? She will want your opinion too on what she finds appealing (ie. plus, will enjoy doping you with dozens of different noxious chemicals). After this, buy her favourite choice.

Simultaneously, get her opinion on what her mother would like.

Later, when alone, you will know what perfumes to buy her.

Meanwhile, maybe its safer buying some jewelry as a greeting present.

You guys don't know anything about women, we "like" to be surprised as well. We don't want to know what you are getting us. Women do not like perfumes that are too too too sweet. We like perfumes with a nice scent with a touch of sweet or floral, plus during the changing seasons some scents are more practical, like winter for instance, we like a more stronger (not too strong) perfume and in the spring, summer and more softer, sweet scent.

There is one that seems to be really popular in the winter here and it is "Burberry" perfumes (different scents by Brit) or like I said "Beautiful" by Estee Lauder. Summer perfumes such as "Paris" St. Y. Laurent, "Gio" by Armani...

I don't know why she wouldn't like Chanel No. 5, most women do and it is a seasonal perfume. Why don't you sample some of the different Chanel perfumes yourself and see which one you like and share that with her. Don't take her to the mall and say, "hey, baby I wanna buy you and your mom some perfume", that is not a surprise. Ask the female associate at the perfume counter to help you, find one that is suitable that you find nice smelling as well so that you are not getting a headache when she is wearing it and getting a headache if you decide to take her to the market sampling all those scents. You will be surprised how different women react to something that you found interesting and shared that with her. A woman also wants to make sure that you like the perfume she is wearing so when a man buys perfume this peaks her interest to know what you like as well. You will see how most women can be simple when it comes to pleasing the men too as herself.

I have been in that situation where a man took me to the mall and bought me perfume and really it is not exciting. I rather had a gift that he chose from his heart, that is more pleasurable and pleasing than anything.

Wink Women? The main thing I know is that I have to keep opening jars for them.

I couldn't agree with you more. Any homeless bum knows that. So, there are a MILLION OTHER THINGS you should suprise your GF with.

However, this guy maybe doesn't know his girl's perfume tastes well enough to buy the appropriate one. Nothing wrong with that at first.

And, from what I know, there's nothing worse than wearing a bad perfume all day (apart from, I suppose, being eaten alive by a polar bear, or having split ends).......Anyway, so he needs her opinion on the matter (perhaps done discreetly).

In relation to this, a previous GF and my current GF don't like Chanel No. 5 at all! My ex gave this perfume (a suprise from me) to her sister Wink I then bought her something else.

So, perfumes have more variety than women's handbags. So, best the guy does some research into her preferences (even covertly), before buying any old Molotov cocktail mix. Smile

Where's BS when you need him? He's right up there with this women's Cosmo psychology stuff!
