I am trying to find the correct way to say this name and I have had no luck, I personally have not taken any classes on Russian, but I have a brief I have to give on a Russian Weapon, and dont know how to pronounce the "designers" name or the weapon correctly...
Vasily Degtyaryov (Designer)
Ruchnoy Pulemyot Degtyaryova (Weapon)

hmmm...someone russian will need to help you...I can't explain it...but the name is easy...as it sounds...but you'll need to hear the weapons name. Perhaps write it in russian...that may be easier |

If these are the only two things you have to learn to say then write it in Russian and have someone who is Russian to pronounce it in Russian so that you can phonic it as it is written. To say these words in English is going to be hard for you and you may not be spelling them right. Are you around any Russians right now? Friends? Get them to say it in Russian and you follow the pronounciation. Read their lips. This is the best way to learn it. You really need to learn the Russian alphabet, but if you need to know how to pronounce these words now and you are pressed for time then it is best to get someone to say them in Russian and you try to pronounce it as you hear it. Forget it in English. You will not pronounce it right.

Here is the Russian name for the weapon....
Ручной Пулемёт Дегтярёва
I am not around any one who speaks Russian, everyone around here speaks Spanish, or French...
The designers name in Russian is...
Васи́лий Алексе́евич Дегтярёв |

I can read this in Russian. I know but you need a friend to pronounce it to you so that you can pronounce it yourself.
roochno(yee)------p oo lemeyo t------d ee git ya r yo va
I tried to do this the best way possible in English. Russian letter y=oo sound the Russian letter p= roll your tongue for the r sound (that is hard) you have to roll your tongue from the front of your mouth and not from your throat. |

(russian p=roll your tongue for the r sound) The backwards R is pronounced as= ya. Most females names end in the a sound. Most males end in ov or ee sound.
Maybe your french friend could help you to pronounce these for you...this is the best I can do in English to sound it out for you. |

The way you have written it here is almost how it would sound in Russian.

Roochnoi Pool e myot is about as close as you can get without an understanding of the cyrilic alphabet. |
