Hello,

I live in the UK and I am planing a cycle tour to Mongolia through Europe and Russia.

For this I would need to make the most of a 3 months Russian visa and because it will take me about 30-40 days to cycle to the Russian Border from the UK, I want to apply for the visa as soon as possible, preferably in the UK!

I thought I had up to 3 months before the arrival date to apply but I've contacted a russian visa company that told me they can't process business visas more than 30 days before the arrival date. Is that one of these new official policies that have been introduced recently?

If yes, what are my other options? Can I get a letter of invitation more than 30 days in advance and apply for the business visa later in Estonia for example (I am a French EU citizen)?

Thanks for your help!

If you would apply in Estonia, you have to wait there for a week or 10 days..

What you can do is, start riding your bike to Russia..
Let a friend bring your passport to the embassy.
Let your friend pick it up.
Decide to which hotel you will be at a certain day.
Let your friend send your passport by DHL (or some other courier service) to the hotel you are staying..

You can apply for 6 months visa. But it is more expensive.

I thought about this too but according to the new visa requirements you need a previous visa in your passport which is less than 12 months old to apply for a multi-entry visa, and from what I understood all business visas longer than 3 months are multi-entry.

I don't have any Russian visa in my passport so I don't think I could apply for a 6 months visa... Maybe it's still worth trying though?
