| Now we're contemplating on marrying in Toronto instead. We'll have her come to Toronto as a tourist, we'll get married here and then she'll return to Russia. Then I'll apply for her to immigrate. Is this plan feasible? Any experiences? |

Snowangel, the divorce rate is extremely high between Russian and Americans.. |
Ok, how about divorces between PEOPLE ALL OVER IN THE WORLD?! I have lot's of friends from EVERYWHERE :American-Germans, Itlaian-Russians, Russian-Americans and so on...Every where is the same problems. So don't make an exstremly high rate on Russian-Americans marriages! I've been married with my American husband since 2001 and believe it or not but I DIDN'T know nothing about GREEN CARD until I got it! I was looking for my soulmate not for moving to the USA or another country. If I found my soul mate in Russia I will NEVER LEAVE MY COUNTRY!!! If my soulmate was living in Africa I go to Africa. But he is an American that's why I came here .All my friends in Russia are feeling the same way as i do. And looking for a good man not for a green cards ! They want to find the same kind husband as mine. All my friends want to have a happy family and be the only one woman for her husband. Unfortanatly lot's of the russian men ( not all of them of course, but most) prefer to have a wife and also some lovers on the side. "I wasn't born just yesterday" so I know what I am talking about. So you make me sick saying stuff like that:

It is bullshit talking about the russian women like that !!
Looks like all women in Russia just dreaming about moving to USA and do some shit like that! That's reduculus! I hope the american men on this forum who is looking for a russian women will not believe that crap!
In Russia is not bad life like it seems. The major problem there is not enough men. For each man - 9 women. That's why the russian men are so spoiled!

I have seen divorces here in almost a week. |
Ok, me too. My russian friend is the halfway through the divorced process from her American husband now. And it was his idea to get divorced because he is KOBEL' ( a dog ) He was cheating on her all their marriage ( 6 years!!) while she was working ,taking care of him, their own child and her own two kids. She is a very nice women, smart, beautiful, nice shape body, good cooking, her house is always very clean....And ........It wasn't enough for him....He always was going to the bars looking for some romantic relationships ( he is almost 50 !) . He created his profile on some dating web-site 3 years ago. He was sending money to some women! He was taking money from his family, his own child! Sick dog. Any comments?
I am working with an american people. Most of them are divorced.Or they were married two or three times! They are ALL americans!!! So.... what's different between Russian-Americans, Russian-Russians and American-Americans? Nothing! Because like I said before there is no perfect places on this world! And every where people are the same! Good people and bad as well! Used to live in Russia and few years in here - I can compare lives!
If somebody not agree with me-SHOW ME THE PERFECT PLACE where are NO divorced, NO alcoholics, NO drugs, ....and so on...AND I WILL MOVE THERE.
Sorry for my english grammar( still learning) |
Thank you for that, I have a russian fiance, and everyone seems to have nothing but negative things to say about it. I found what you said very reasurring. |

Hey Coke
I sent you a PM too. Her getting to Canada as a tourist might be VERY difficult. Seems that a single woman from Russia is turned down very often by Canadian officials when applying for a visa. |

| Not a chance. I am inviting a friend who has a great job, owns her own flat, has travelled many countries and yet still there is a chance that she will not be successful in receiving a tourist visa. |

Froid, Russians do marry foreigners, the negative portion comes from the Golddiggers who are 21 years old marrying 46 year old men.
When you spend time with them as I have with a good friend, you truly know someone's character. This instant marriage thing does not make sense. This is what is bad. |

Hmmm...Paul, did I say anything about instant marriages and the stereotypes of Russians and Westerners?
I'm staying out of that discussion. |

You reply to a discussion about it then you are discussing it.
Coke123, face it marry her in Russia. You can look at other options like marriage in Cyprus. She is not going to get a tourist visa. I met a man from Belarus who has been to the US SEVEN TIMES, yet he cannot get a visa to Canada. Canada is the worst place to get a visa for Russian. You can thank our liberal refugee laws for that. When there was an AIDS conference in TO, all the participants had to sign letters that they were not seeking asylum. Guess what, they did and now we are stuck with them and their medical care for at least two years. I pee on Pierre Elliot Trudeau's grave. |

Froid, I have a problem how our Canadian government allows dishonest people to stay like refugees who jump the queue and people like my friend, business from Belarus, and other good people who have a history on honouring the system are refused entry into Canada for a visit.
A friend of mine mother could not visit her grandson, because of this harsh laws. Even ask Dmitri who has travelled all throughout Europe, owns this successful website, and highly educated, but yet we restrict his entry to "our" great nation, but when it is come to other refugees, we seem to have an open door.
The Canadian system is predjudicial to people from Eastern Europe for immigration and visiting. |

I'm a 23 year old American living in Switzerland and have been in a loving relationship with my 21 year old Russian girlfriend for 2 years now. I understand both sides of the argument, but think that if one person is really serious enough to get married to the other, there has to be some more semblance of trust that what either of you concede. The problem is when this relationship is broken down on either side. True, there are Russian women who leave their American men, just as there are American men who abuse their women. To give statistics about the greater or lesser frequency of either event seems to largely be missing the point. I fully agree that time and energy are needed to keep a relationship going, but also believe that with current technology meetings can be buttressed by frequent communication over the computer to keep the relationship going. I meet my gf maybe 3-4 times a year in various locations in Europe, but talk to her everyday via Skype. Ideally we'd never be apart, but the reality of the situation is such that technology has an important role to play in sustaining a long-distance relationship.
Overall I think its really foolish to judge or pass guilt on either group in any general terms. Lots of people will end up divorcing regardless of nationality, as is well-demonstrated. What is required is a certain level of trust and understanding beyond just the surface to truly justify a serious commitment like marriage. The problem arises I believe when people marry first and then ask questions later. To rush into something as important as this is both foolish and naive, but then again also understandable and tragic in some situations. Overall, the hostility demonstrated in this debate is indicative of its emotional weight, and it is the responsibility of everyone to ensure that such profound decisions are not treated in a light manner...
But then again who knows, maybe I'm just a naive kid after all... |

Sunjayc, ok you are two years difference and you have met frequently.
Ok try 25 girl and beautiful has a desire for gold and jewerly and hates computers, plus a history dating men for money and man who 45 years old, obese, and whose hobby is playing video games and he has a daughter almost her age. 20 year difference. Has met the girl twice and also is going to marry her. Despite she is blacklisted throughout the internet.
Do you think that is love?
How about 28lady and 48 year old man. He is also obese and if you want to hide something from him, just put it behind a bar of soap or bottle of shampoo. She stays in Russia just avoid him. But will ask for jackets, jewerly and trips. BTW he gave a marriage agency 10,000 $ to find this woman.
Do you think that is love? |

Ouch...I'm really concerned now. We may have to go back to our original plans then
froid: Thanks for your PM. I sent you a reply to your email.
Paul Holmes: What exactly do you have to do to invite someone to visit on a Tourist VISA? Which offices should I go to to make this invitation "official"? |

Just send me your email.
But quickly, there is support needed which is your tax statements from CRA confirming that you are not an unemployed bum. A letter from your employer that you are still working and that you are not unemployed bum. A letter stating that you are willing to accept any financial responsible for her when she is in Canada.
She has to fill out a form.
She has to provide proof that she is going back to Russia and not just staying. So if she owns property, has travelled many countries and returned, has a good job and so on. I think at her age and location in Russia, I rather bet on the Maple Leafs to win the Stanley Cup.
Best bet I think there is a consulate in Vladivlastok now, marry her in that city. Bribe to reduce the days ZAGS.
There used to be a good forum in Russian called canada.ru. she can learn more info there also. |
