Hi, everybody, I've searched for a similar topic here and didn't find anything. If this was discussed before please give a link

I want to bring over a Russian antique Car to U.S. I know it's been done before, I haven't seen any in Sacramnto CA, but I was told there are a couple of cars in New York.

I want to know as many details as possible, so far I only found vague info, if anybody knows anything please respond, Thanks

Hi, thanks for the response, I'm looking for an unrestored Gaz M20 Pobeda,

I was told by others that it is possible to import from Ukraine, but that is all I know, do you know how it can be done, the documentation, shipment, prices?
my e-mail is maxmyrmyr@hotmail.com

thanks

In Ukraine it will be easier than doing so in Russia but it will by no means be simple, cheap or quick to do. Buying the car and shipping it out of the country will certainly involve coming to Ukraine. Think of the cost of coming to Ukraine for a month.

If you do manage to find a good car, unless the owner doesn't know prices, expect to pay $3000-$10000; BUT finding a decent rust free unmolested Pobeda will not be easy. It's quite possible you will not find a car in the condition you want even if you spend a month in Ukraine. It's also VERY important to note that parts for classic Russian cars are expensive and very hard to find with the exception of the GAZ 21.

Finding the car is not a problem right now, I'm negotiating with a seller of one car that is under 3,000 the condition is satisfactory, I'm not looking for a restored Pobeda. I need to know how to import it here without any problems and fines. Unfortunately I can't go to Ukraine for a month, don't have the money and time for that. I need to know shipping and documentation prices, so far eveybody I asked tried to rip me off, for example, shipping from Vladivostok, Russia, is $6,000 that's redicilous, compared to $1500 from St. Petersburg. The problem with St.Pete. is the Pobedas are all rusted from that climate, and the prices are much higher than in Ukraine

In 2006 l purchased a car in Ukraine, registered it in my name then drove it out of the country. To buy a car in Ukraine you must have OVIR visa registration (which is not easy to get), which is a stamp in your passport with the address you live in Ukraine.
You wish to buy a car then ship it to the USA without going to Ukraine. I think it's likely that this is impossible...but l could be wrong.

two years have passed and I'm now a proud owner of a Gaz M20 Pobeda, importing was unnecessary since I found the car in US.
