Hello, I have a few questions please:

1. I arrive by coach into St Petersburg late on Thursday evening and depart by train early Sunday morning. Therefore I am there for 4 days, but only 2 of those are business days (1 if you consider it will be 8pm when I arrive on Thursday). Is it therefore OK for me not to register? Will I have any difficulties with custom officials on the train? I'm a lone female traveller and a bit nervous about any problems.

2. The date of entry as stated on my visa is 5 days earlier than the date than i will actually be entering (I was unsure on the specifics of my itinerary when organising the visa). Will i be able to prove that I've not been in Russia for longer than 3 business days?

3. I am travelling to Russia on a coach from Tallinn. Will i be given a migration card on the coach and will my passport be stamped at the border?

4. Finally, if registration is necessary (or recommended), then I am a bit confused as to where to go to get it done. I got my visa invitation through this website (Intel Service centre) but looking on their website they only have a Moscow office listed. Do they have partner companies in St Petersburg I can go to? I am staying in a hostel that doesn't offer registration service.

Thanks for your responses

1. Yes, you could get away with not registering. Whether they bother you about it when you leave really depends on the passport control official you strike. If they give you grief, just keep telling them you didn't have to register because you were only in Russia for one business day.

2. Yes, you'll have your date of entry stamped on your visa when you enter - that will be proof.

3. Yes and yes.

4. If you want to register, you can try contacting the St Petersburg office listed about 3/4 of the way down this page:

Though I'm not certain whether their contacts are up to date. By the way, which hostel are you staying at that doesn't offer registration?
