Hi there

I am planning to go from Moscow to Beijing on the Trans-Siberia on 28-Jan, arriving Beijing on the 8-Feb.

The stops on the cards right now will be Irkutsk and Ulan Baatar. My concerns are:

1) Will everything be shutdown? Hotels, hostels, tourist ammenities. I am hoping to spend a night in a Ger Camp, will they be open??

2) I am travelling on a budget and will be buying tickets while in Russia, considering it is not the peak season, am I leaving to much to chance.

3) What will the landscape be along the way? Will everything be covered in snow, or will I still be able to extrapolate beauty from it?

Any advise, comments appreciated.

Thanks

Hi
I wonder if you have ever seen winter - it's half of the year here, and life doesn't stop.
As for your questions - all the facilities in the cities function as in summer, in the open country, it depends.
Tickets should not be a big problem, though I don't know about the particular train.
The last question about the beauty I leave on your conscience. Snow in Siberia is about 1 meter thick, and it makes the most beutiful landscapes you can ever see. The colder it is, the more beautiful Smile

Hey Vadim

thanks for responding. i love winter, my only concern was the tourist facilities will be all shutdown. But that doesn't seem to be the case here.

thanks again.

PS: Know if the same applies to Mongolia? I am wandering if the Ger Camps operates in winter.
