Does anyone know anything about travel between Irkutsk and Olkhon Island in May? I don't think it quite falls under the "summer" schedule in terms of buses and ferrys. Has anyone gone up there around this time? Any advice?!

So take a bus from Irkutsk to the shore and then either ferry or any other form of transport to get across? Did you stay on the island or stay somewhere else? Any recommendations on things to do while there? I just need to get out of Moscow and get some peace and quiet!!

I booked the variant through http://www.baikalex.com/travel/olkhonbudget.html It will cost me 500 R for a bus Irkutsk - Khuzir and 250 R for the boat to cross to the island. Seems like it is possible without a hitch.

I hired a car for $100.00 go and back same day. I am i Moscow and will go there again this summer.. September was great not too cold nice in the sun. Mark
