Hi everybody and thanks in advance for any help.

I am going to Russia and Belarus next June but I still have a couple of questions regarding visa application. I am from Brazil but I also have the Austrian citizenship. Currently, I am doing my master's in the USA with student visa on my Brazilian passport. My question: Can I apply for the Russian visa here in the USA even though I am not an american citizen? I live in Florida so i guess I would have to use the embassy. If so, should I send any special documentation like student visa papers? If not, can i apply with my Austrian passport? Which one is better to apply? What about the visa fee at the embassy, will it be the same for both passports?

And finaly, does anybody know the same requirements for the Belarus visa? I mean, will I have the same problems?

Thank you very much, Walter

The rule of thumb seems to be that you can apply from any country, provided that you have a legitimate reason to be in that country for at least 91 days.

Hi, thanks.
So what would be a "legitimate reason
' for that? A visa on my passport? So it means I cannot apply with my Austrian passport here in the USA since I don't have my student visa stamped on it?

Just call up the Russian embassy in the USA and ask them. I received a visa for Russia in USA back in Sept 07 by using my Australian passport though I am a duel citizen as an American. They did not ask to see my legal status in the US. It is possible that the rules have changed since then though.
