With this letter we would like to make a request for a support of our very important project, aimed to create a favourable conditions for the continuation of the joint rehabilitation process of children and their families found themselves in a troublesome situation and for their successful integration into society.
We treat this project with a trepidation and a big enthusiasm. Due to the project we achieve the things that we were impossible to achieve within the Center Otradnoye". Sofrino project provides an unique possibility for children of Otradnoye Center to organize a cooperative process (activity) to promote the enrichment and rapprochement of children and their families; to gain an experience of spiritual enrichment due to the studies in Sunday school of Smolensk Church parish. Sofrino project provides also an unique possibility for the children and their families of the village Sofrino who find themselves in troublesome situation and meet difficulties with socialization process.
For two years of the project realization lots of things were achieved in providing of the material resources of rehabilitation work. Church parish quarters assigned for the work with children and their families are provided with gas communication now, the maintenance works are completed. The necessary furniture is partly purchased. But we still have several obstacles on the way of the project realization. Sofrino village is 40 km from Moscow. Especially with the winter weather coming ahead we meet more and more the difficulties with transportation of children from Otradnoye Center to Sofrino and back to Moscow, as well as the provision transportation. It is hard for us to solve these tasks without an accessible carrier. Therefore we would like to appeal to your help in gathering money (as far as possible) for us to be able to purchase a minibus for 6 seats (for the such minibus any driver category would be available).
We would appreciate very much your support and assistance in providing the necessary condition for the rehabilitation of Sofrino project.
Best regards.

Sounds like one of those russian churches with newly guilded domes and well fed fat priests who have to disdainfully brush past beggars on the way to the Merc. Now they are using the disadvantaged children ploy.

Ouch! Don't you think that was a bit harsh? Although I would agree that the Russian orthodox church seems to do little to nothing for the needy in this country, it's really not fair to make such accusations and assumptions as you did. And, I might add, charities everywhere often have a less than glistening reputation.....

However there is a large and terrible problem in Russia with abandoned children and disabled kids. The government extorts tens of thousands of dollars from foreigners to adopt them and yet would seem prefer to let them rot in disgraceful institutions here in Russia. If somebody is trying to help, give them a chance.

olikbolik, you included no contact information for your organization. No method of help/donation, no direction for those willing to lend assistance. You should add these relevant details if you expect anyone to reply.

yes, maybe a website address if you have one? or email?

Sounds like spiritual-based family therapy to me - not some shady ploy to get money.

Try looking into his profile--it includes an email and yahoo messenger address.

As with all dealings regarding money, do give these folks the benefit of the doubt, but please be careful.

Thanks guys for your insights,
you may look up our website: www.kidlinks.ru(it's underdevelopment and soon it will be in Russian). If you would like to talk personally to me please PM me and i will be in touch. Our organization isn't Religious neither Otradnoye (the orphanage that stated the need for a van). So please don;t try to insult neither of these. Also, Kidlinks International (our organization) is developing programs for orphans: work program and others (see the website for details), that help teens of age 14-18 and older to live independantly after they graduate from the orphanage.
So we would really like you to get more info on the website and try not to CRITISIZE but help(if you are able of course), b/c the only purpose of Kidlinks Int. is to provide resources and people for orphans who are graduating from orphanages and live on their own.

The need which is stated above came from one of the Director's of Russian orphanage whom i respect and know her personally. They have done a big change in kids life and continue doing it. In order for them to do their project, they need to have a van to transport kids to Sofrino (see the link above).
If you have any questions that are left unanswered please ask and contribute what you can towards our NGO Kidlinks Int.

All insights are appreciated,
OS

Yes it was a bit harsh and if this is a genuine organisation doing commendable work I unreservedly apologise. My comments did however get some reaction to olikboliks post for the first time.
