Hoping to get some replies since i didn't from my last post, i am now asking the availability for tickets from ulan bataar to beijing in the end of july. Is it at all possible to get train tickets at this time? As you all know, it's only possible to book the tickets 45 days in advance. Is it worth taking the risk to wait a month before the trip and hope for the best?
Anyone???!? there is no detailed information about the availability on the internet!
Best regards,

hey,
I did this trip at around the same time last year, buying all our tickets as we went. Though i think i went from ulan-battar to bejing at the beginning of September. We tried to book them in Ulan-bataar on arrival (3 weeks before we wanted to leave fro Bejiing) but they were booked up miles ahead. They directed us to a "VIP" room for booking in the same building where the staff spoke perfect english, and they managed to get us tickets to Erlian (Just over the Chinese border) where we picked up a 16 hour sleeper bus to Bejing. Depending on how long you would like to spend in Mongolia, its worth booking them as you get off the train there. Hope this helps. |

hmm, trains booked 3 weeks in advance?
I'll try your advice and see if its fully booked upon arrival. Otherwise we're probably taking a train to jining nan first and from here to beijing, i heard that is a possibilty that usually works
Thanks anyways! |
