I am planning to visit Russia on my motorcycle sometime next spring. I would like to visit Moscow and then take the Trans-Sib to Vladivostok and ride on my motorcycle back to Moscow. Does any one know if I can put my motorcycle on the Trans-Sib? If yes, will the bike travel on the same train as me? How do I make a reservation for the bike? If not, Are there any alternatives to put a bike on a train to Vladi? Any info related to this would be greatly appreciated.

Taking your bike, car or motorcycle...

Believe it or not, this gets asked from time to time. Trans-Siberian passenger trains do not carry cars or motorbikes, full stop. However, you can take bicycles with you, zipped up in a bike bag with pedals removed and the handlebars turned, free of charge as hand luggage. Bear in mind that it will take up space in your sleeping compartment, so it may be less anti-social to book a berth in a more spacious 2-berth compartment than to inflict your bike on three fellow travellers in a 4-berth compartment.

i hope this helped. Always look through google for answers Smile

And the seat61 is a great page about the trans sib in general

This question is asked here from time to time, all the time on HorizonsUnlimited.com and a handful of other sites.

The general consensus is that you will be hard pressed to travel with your bike on the trans-sib. There's no way I would pack my bike off on another train and jump on yet a different train and clickity-clack my way to Vladivostok. No way, no how.

You'd be much better served, imho, by getting to Moscow and then riding to Vladivostok and then figuring out a way to get your bike on the boat to Japan and then on to points forward than you would be trying to figure out how to go Vladivostok to Moscow on the train with your bike.

I'm not saying it couldn't be done - but, man, would it be a lot of work...

Good luck!
