In order for my fiancee to visit me in the UK, obviously, she needs a visa, but does it need to be a fiancee visa in order for us to get married?

How difficult is it for a Russian woman to get a visitor's visa? I've heard all the stories about single Russian woman being tunred down because of their marital status, but on the Emabassy FAQ they say this is plain untrue...

Hey!
I am going through the same process (thought with my Russian is a guy!)
The process totally sucks and is really stressful, but you can do it! Go to this site: http://www.visajourney.com . It is an amazing forum and they have examples of most every form you will need to fill, guides, and tons of topic-specific forums/threads. You can ask questions about pretty much anything and you'll get a response within minutes. Literally. Visajourney has totally saved us...definitely go there.
Good luck!
P.S. My username on the site is "anka" in case you care Smile))))

The "by the book" way of doing it is:-

1) She gets a 6-month Visitor or Tourist Visa to see you and experience the UK.

2) She returns home and applies for a Fiancee Visa (6-months).

3) She comes to the UK on the Fiancee Visa and you get married within the 6 months.

4) After you get married, within the UK, she applies for a Limited Leave to Remain Visa (2 years).

5) One month before the expiry of the LLR Visa, within the UK, she applies for an Indefinite Leave to Remain visa.

There are all sorts of qualifications required for the different visas and with the exception of the Tourist/Visitor visa, the fees are astronomical.

The UK goverernment website lists the type of visas and their requirements:-

http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/

It's a tedious and expensive process, but you'll get there in the end.

Best of Luck! Smile
