Hello everyone, I hope this the right section to post such topic, if not, I apologize to the moderators and admin. My question is, I will be traveling to Russia for my first time and like to clarify the documents I need are correct. Any tips or recommendations will be greatly appreciated. I am an American and will be staying with my girlfriend’s parent’s home for no more than 2 months. So far I gathered that I would need the following:

US Passport Book
Russian Business Visa
Credit Card (Need to get one ASAP)

However, I am unsure what correct procedures I need to follow when arriving to Russia . A travel agent I spoke with recommended that I stay at a hotel in Moscow for one day and let the hotel handle my documents. From what I understand on the FAQ on ways to Russia you can have a hotel reserved, but do not need to stay there. Problem is, my girlfriend lives in Kostroma and will be picking me up by train. I’m a little confused as far as what to do. Is it really necessary to stay in a hotel or can I leave with my girlfriend after my arrival? Does she need to show any identification if I do stay at a hotel for one day showing that she will take responsibility of me? Also, after checking out at Moscow airport am I free to go on my own or should I check in with the Russian consulate right away? I apologize if my questions sound silly. Truth is, I just need some reassurance as to taking the right steps in traveling to Russia and since majority of my stay will be at my girlfriend's place.

Thank you Very Happy
