Hello

I'm coming for about 6 months in Russia and I bring my laptop and my USB Modem.

I would like to have internet mobile access with my laptop.

How are approximately the rate in Russia ? Which operator should I use (I stay in Moscow) ? Should I buy a new USB Modem ?

Does anyone on this forum surf on the net with an USB Modem with mobile internet ?

Thanks a lot for your help.

if you have a laptop it has a built-in dial-up modem already
Why take another one with you?

If it's a broadband modem - you will not be able to use it on Russian phone lines - there should be a connection of such line to the ISP.

If you're going to use the dial-up then you can buy Internet-cards. something like 100 for 10 hours?.. I don't remember really...
Each card provides you with the modem pull number, login and pass.

Mobile internet will work, but you have to have GSM card.

I think he means a boadband cell phone modem that works via his USB port. Like the wireless cards that Sprint, AT&T and others have here in the states.

Wish I could help you answer that. I'm looking for the same info myself.

Where are you going to stay? Apartment or hotel or what? Anyway, don't worry, you will have a plenty of options.
