Hello. Can anyone recommend the best way to ship a guitar in a medium size package (44"x6"x18") weight 25lbs. to Moscow, or St. Pete. Russia from San Francisco, Ca? I have researched several major shipping companies (UPS, FedEX, DHL, USPS Global Express) and they are all very expensive.

Is there another company (ocean freight or air freight) someone might recommend? or perhaps another method (such as shipping through another European country such as Finland?)?

Help is much needed and very much appreciated!!

Thanks for any ideas.

Steven

Shipping huge things is always expensive.

You can see at the USPS post near you, and send a registered package.

That´s the way I send things overseas from Chile at least...

Try EMS Garantpost, or their local partners, as they have a widespread network of delivery depots in Russia... but remember to include the quadruplicate requisite pro-forma invoices in transparent document pouches (in Russian) and the CN23 or equivalent customs declaration, otherwise the recipient will face potential surcharges.

I have never had trouble with this approach, providing the value of the goods, if stated as a gift, does not exceed 10,000py6 per consignment.

Do not trust the Russian Post Office, as things (in fact almost everything!) will tend to go missing unless fully registered and sent express... Rolling Eyes
