Hi!

I just came across this website and I think its great! I'm hoping to go to visit Russia next year to visit and perhaps study.

I would like to study Russian while I am there, and maybe stay for a little while.

Could someone recommend universities or colleges I could do some languages courses through? Or even some specific courses would be great. I am not a beginner though as I have studied when I was younger and grown up speaking Russian with my grandparents.

Also, I have heard it would be better for me to stay and study in St Petersberg, more options for study and cheaper cost of living?

Would it be possible for me to work in Russia while studying or travelling around? I know they are very strict with invitations and visas, would I need to have work arranged before I get there?

There is so much to think about, but I think this is a good start.

Thanks so much for any information you could provide me with!

Almost every St.-Petersburg univercity that accepts foreign students has courses of Russian for them.
Of course the best would be the State Univercity, but you can surely expect to find courses of Russian for foreigners in linguistic-oriented univercities and institutes.
Are you going to study Russian only, or Russian and then something else? If the latter - try to find some solutions for it first, and then chose those solutions that provide Russian classes as well.
I'm not sure about legal points here. I heard that some language schools accept foreigners as teachers of languages native to those foreigners, for a part-time job. I believe that legal situation should be easier for those types of jobs, but I do not know it for sure, soory.

Hello!
I've just read your message here and I have an interesting offer. ART (amazing russian treasure), based in Volgograd, offers educational tours for foreigners who would like to study Russian. It'll be cheaper than in Moscow or St. Petersburg for example. if you want to get a more detailed information, feel free to contact me: elenaustimova@mail.ru
