greg222,

If that's the way you like it, but personally I think we should discount what he says on the basis that he has historically been very pro-Russian(quite a rarity in the Czech Republic as many Czechs will agree), also on the basis that he is hated by many of his countrymen, and the fact that almost nobody in Czech politics agree with him on this matter.

The fact that he is a liar and an adulterer simply provide perfect icing on the cake.

Some lyrics about this war. For americans.

Translation:

"A girl. Bombs. War -
on one line...
You can't this understand,
too far you are now...
From there you can't listen,
how whistling falling shell.
The age, male or female - indiffirent -
all invited to hell.

From there, where you now
chewing these acid lines,
Where you won't invite us...
Of course, you are not cruel...
Of course, you against war...
You switch programs...
You don't know - who are we:
-"Well, something like Vietnam..?"
You just choosing a new-
Clinton, Barrack Obama...

You got mortgage falling,
You have big prices for steel and oil...
While we getting out from
firing years and problems...
This fault - of course is not yourse,
That in The Name of mystical "Freedoms",
our country was fired by war?
"Thanks", if you "sorry".

So, when will these so called defenders of international law and human rights start to bark at U.S? When will they demand respect to integrity of borders of Pakistan? Or it is just another terroristic muslim country which doesn't have rights by default, isn't it?

BTW, I've recently saw the photos of Canadian artillerists in Afganistan on Guardians's site. I wasn't aware of this fact. Interesting... so it looks like they same as U.S. - peaceful nation, small army with bloody hands, fair vassals of U.S.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLWzqP7lo9E That's what I think about it. Rude and weird, but much closer to real situation, I suppose, than all these lying mass medias, especially the US ones.

I am happy for you. If you keep critizing others, then you do not have to look at your own country and faltering banking system and over inflated real estate.

Do I want Canada in Afghanistan? No. Are we a vassal of the USA? Not a vassal, but greatly influenced and with present government, we are too close. So I am not going to completely disagree with you. We need to look at other relationships with countries like Russia and China.

I like you guys. You are constantly throwing shit at Russia. You are constantly telling us how bad our government is and how bad we are (afer all we elected this government). You are constanly saying exactly same things that U.S. Gov-t is saying. You do what they want and you aren't vassals of U.S, are you? Please... I don't see a difference between representatives of U.S., Canada, Britain and other peace-loving democratic nations in Afganistan and Iraq.

Quote:
Canadian home sales fell almost 20 percent in August from a year earlier, new car sales took a steep plunge this summer, the manufacturing sector (particularly in Ontario and Quebec) is being decimated by a spate of plant closures and layoffs, inflation rates remain elevated, growth has stagnated, productivity ratios are falling and the commodity bubble that has kept various financial instruments afloat has been pierced. At the same time, the US is already in recession with all that that entails for a Canadian economy in which US exports account for some 30 percent of GDP.

Your words about bad Russia is so self-assured, but I have just entered four words in the "search" field: canada world financial crisis. Results were funny! I'm not financist, I'm not able to throw zillions of economic related numbers at opponent, I can't count money in the pockets of oligarhs and give advices to my government what to do with them, maybe I don't understand anything but looking at the results of WFC do we need to remember "Lavrov vs. Milliband"?

Do I need to remember that there are queues for new cars in Russia, sales of new houses still raising (at least in my city), and factories are hiring? I don't want to say that everything good in Russia, many things are bad hovewer you said wise words: "If you keep critizing others, then you do not have to look at your own country..." Before to blame Russia, to invade into Afganistan, to support Georgia's warmongers etc, etc look around, had everything been done in your own house?

Ender, you little nationalist baby. I can say publicly that I do not agree with Canada's involvement in Afghanistan and we did not invade, but came in as peacekeepers and unfortunately it has become a war. So you are full of it again.
Let us go through your stats. Canada's new home sales decreased by 16%, but it is the quantity, not the price. Canadian housing prices have decreased (guess from memory) about 3-5%. We have a totally different banking system than USA and Russia. In the last 40 years, Canada has had only 1 banking collapse. All the banks are secure here and are looking to buy banks in the USA.
Manufacture jobs have been stable, but there are a concern, because sales have decreased and rising Canadian dollar has made us less competitive.
Canada will also suffer with falling oil prices and commodities, but the difference is that we are not leveraged like Russia. Although the government is still quite wealthy, it is the Oligarch and their greedy ways have put the MICEX on the verge of collapse. Also average flat in Russia is so over priced, that it has to correct itself. When a price per sq meter for an old soviet styled flat in Kazan is twice that of New home in Chicago, then there is a problem. While an average Canadian house went up 30% over 5 years, in Russia, it tripled.
Just like the USA, the Russian gov't will have( 216 billion has been placed in banks so far) to spend money to bail these greedy business men who used their wealth to buy yachts in Montenegro and others purchased flats, cars, cell phones and such that they cannot afford. So 2/5 of the reserves are used to bail out Putin's drinking buddies Oligrachs, while Russia disparately requires money on roads, schools, hospitals, and build stable manufacturing sector. But really who cares that the school collapsed and killed those children, as long as Depraska can sit on his golden toilet then everything is great.

It is not Russia that I dislike, it is the fucking greedy useless Oligrachs who do nothing to help their country and its people. I dislike the Government that promotes their thievery and the nationalists idiots like yourself who defend these thieves like son who defends the reputation of a drunken father without question. The wealth and resources of Russia are for the benefit of all Russian people, not just elitist few who steal and manipulate the system in order to take the wealth of Russia to London England so they can buy a football franchise and live in London, while schools collapse and less and less money is spend per GNP on schools, infrastructure, and health care. Where the average Russian school teacher earns bare enough money to live.
Russian wealth is for all Russians to benefit from, not just the elite. But hey I am just Russian hater, because I think it is unfair because $1,222 per every living Russian was used to bail out the Oligarch.

Medvedev gives Russia banks more credit to fight crisis

OLEG SHCHEDROV AND MICHAEL STOTT

Reuters

October 7, 2008 at 6:40 AM EDT

MOSCOW — President Dmitry Medvedev announced on Tuesday an extra 950 billion rubles ($36.4-billion U.S.) of new credit for banks at an emergency Kremlin meeting to fight a global financial crisis that had given Russian stocks their worst pounding ever the previous day.

Mr. Medvedev said that most of the money, which is offered over five years, would be channelled through the biggest two state- controlled banks, Sberbank and VTB.

In a surprise move, Iceland said Russia had offered to loan €four-billion ($5.4-billion U.S.) from its huge reserves to strengthen the Nordic island's battered currency, though there was no immediate confirmation of this in Mosocw.

News of the crisis meeting at the Kremlin emerged after Russian stocks had their worst day ever on Monday. The dollar-denominated RTS index collapsed by 19.1 per cent as panic gripped the market and investors fled to safe havens.

“There is currently little 'rhyme nor reason' to trading in the Russian stock market,” said Chris Weafer at local brokerage Uralsib in an e-mailed commentary.

“It is as if investors are aggregating the total sum of their fears concerning the global and domestic economies. Worst case scenario, and then some.”

Even Gazprom, Russia's national champion and the world's biggest gas producer, lost a quarter of its value in one day, Mr. Weafer said, describing the move as “insane.”

Stocks, which have shed more than 60 per cent of their value since their May peak this year, traded nervously when trading resumed on Tuesday but rallied strongly after news of the latest Kremlin bailout package emerged.

By 1010 GMT, the ruble-based MICEX index was up 5.5 per cent at 793 points, while the dollar-based RTS was up 3.93 per cent at 900.4 points.

On paper, Russia had looked among the better placed nations to withstand the global financial crisis.

Holder of the world's third biggest foreign exchange reserves, almost free from sovereign debt and sitting on a huge stream of hard currency earnings from oil, gas and metals, Russia has a cash flow most emerging markets would die for.

Dipping into its wealth, Moscow has already unveiled a $180-billion rescue package ranging from liquidity injections and tax cuts to the possibility of using budget funds to buy shares.

But with an economy heavily dependent on raw material exports and with market sentiment on Russia seriously damaged by the August war with Georgia and a series of government moves deemed anti-business, Moscow has instead been among the worst affected markets.

Sharp falls in the price of oil and major metals have taken a heavy toll on leading Russian companies, as fears grow that a global recession will mean lower demand for energy and commodities.

Analysts say a number of major Russian oligarchs have financed expansion via loans guaranteed against the stock of their companies, making them particularly vulnerable to a market collapse.

But despite the gloom at home, Moscow still apparently feels able to extend help overseas, even to non-traditional allies.

The Icelandic Central Bank announced on its website on Tuesday that Russia had agreed to grant it a loan of €4-billion for three to four years at a very favourable interest rate of 30 basis over Libor.

“Prime Minister Putin has confirmed this decision,” the bank said.

Mr. Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov was unable to confirm the news about the loan or say why Russia might have decided to make such a loan.

Deputy Finance Minister Dmitry Pankin told Reuters that Russia had not made any decision yet about granting a loan to Iceland.

Interesting article about Georgian army equipment. Russian experts analyze weapons and equipment taken during conflict in South Ossetia. At least one of its authors is correspondent with big expirience of work in various "hot points".

http://www.kp.ru/daily/24187.5/395529

It looks like significant amount of money U.S. spend on Georgian army was simply stolen. Cool picture and low quality and reliability equipment and ammunition. Site and phone number written on the kevlar plate leads to the dating site. Rolling Eyes Grenades that probably unable to kill anyone. Damaged shells in the boxes. etc... etc... Georgian soldiers - cannon fodder with modern hi-tech gadgets and weapons that don't want to shoot. Now I understand why Georgian soldiers returned to the old soviet assault rifles. They simply don't have jams on the second magazine.

THere is a good article comparing the AK 47 to the MR15 (M16)

Overall.
The M16 is lighter, more accurate, quicker to reload. Quick bursts
AK47 - more durable, more reliable, if worst comes to worst you club someone to death with it.

Tighter brush or problem environment and close combat, AK-47 is superior.

Long range, open field, M16 is superior.

It is not about AK-47 vs M-16. It is about low quality equipment and ammunition and bought by Georgian army. Obviously it is not same equipment that U.S. Army uses. Sooner or later US masters will ask: "Where is the money Misha?" Or maybe they are busy counting money received for this ammunition?

It is interesting also that Nino Burdganadze was retrieved from political stasis chamber. It looks like Saakashvili will be replaced soon... The question is: "Who pays to Nino - U.S. GD or Kremlin". Poor Georgia. Of course this is my speculation.

At least it is less shocking to steal money dedicated to buy weapons than stealing money dedicated to feed people who starve. Laughing

Of course it is less shocking as everyone know how such things are made. First you need to find hot spot. Second you need to move it to the level of war. Third you need to sell weapons to one or both sides. If it is possible stole as much as possible. When one side lose, bury traces of theft in the war ashes. It is just business.

Interesting article:
