Hi.

I am visiting Moscow for 9 days as a tourist to do sightseeing etc. I am renting a private apartment.

I am wondering what currency to bring.
Shocked
I shall of course bring the bulk in Travellers cheques for security. What would be advised US $ or Euro's? I will be purchasing with GB £

As for cash. I am confused, WTR advice says dollars as it can be exchanged everywhere. However, should I want to buy food, taxi, metro ticket etc between the airport and my apartment, will dollars be ok? I have just checked 3 major online resources for currency purchase in the UK, not one offerred Rubles.

Or is it simply that I could use dollars all the time?

Any advice appreciated.

You can take either euro's or dollars,

I am going to russia next week for three weeks and am taking dollars as you can use them and exchange them anywhere. Where as not everywhere accepts euro's.

The exchange rate between euro's to roubles and dollars to roubles is very similiar. You get a little more with euro's

The reason why you cannot obtain roubles anywhere is because it is a restricted currency, roubles are not allowed out of russia.
