BTW, how Australia is doing? Australian dollar fell significantly. Can you compare what is going in Australia and what is going in Russia? What is your impression? |
Well we are not doing too badly at the moment. The $ is down against the US, GBP and Euro. Our government has guaranteed savings but investments are hurting. Exporters are happy and people with large debts are shitting themselves. |

So, is it a good time for people with USD to visit Ukraine, given the exchange rate? |

Congratulations on your car purchase. What kind of car did you buy? Just curious. |
Logan. Comparing with those "buckets with bolts" produced by AvtoVaz Logan is fantastic (yes I know it is cheapest in the whole Renault model line). I was able to buy Megane but greed overcame me. Anyway I can't buy Laguna 3. Maybe this is even better. I plan to use it for 3..4 years. Probably something with hybrid engine will be available to this time. |
I remember seeing Russian TV commercials for Renault Logan. Nice looking car. What's the manufacturers' warranty on a Logan in Russia ( years/ kilometers )? |

Unfortunately, It is going to get much worse
Russians are more pragmatic than the Ukrainians. Ukrainians tried to keep up with the Russia in their monetary habits, so they borrowed and borrowed
What is happening in Russia is happening in Ukraine except they do not have 500 Billion rainy day fund and political power struggle.
Russia will be able to handle this crisis, but the pessimists will feed on the optimists who thought the economic party will never end.
But in the end, correction is necessary. Bank sector will be stronger. Laws will be strengthen for the banks. The need for diversification from the OIl sector is now realized.
I think Russia is like a team for stars that should win every game, but they lost. Now they are able to rethink and be better than they ever had before.
Ukraine is just a mess. They do not have the resources like Russia and they still have all the problems like Russia.
Belarus is a soon to be Russian Republic. Why they left, I do not know? |

It looks like Ukraine is going through same period as Russia 10..15 years ago. Economical problems and political instability.

There is Russian proverb: "Пока гром не грянет, мужик не перекрестится".
"Unless thunder roar, muzhik don't cross himself"

A friend of my wife has just returned from Ukraine. She has relatives there. She said that they tired of all politic and there is huge discontent of current government and results or "orange revolution". Like russians today about about October revolution: "What have we done?"

Everyone ran from USSR. They thought they would live better without USSR but history has different opinion. Don't forget they have never been part of Russia. |

Argentine automakers will sell basic models at cost ...
Local plants of Renault SA, General Motors, Peugeot, Ford Motor Co. and other automakers will participate in the government's plan to protect 150,000 auto industry jobs and to keep production from falling steeply next year.
I don't suppose these automakers would sell basic models at cost in Russia, unless they're already selling cars at below cost. |

Ender, I agree with you, But Ukraine is a divide country and does not really know what it wants to do.
Ukraine, if it wants to an European country, then it should do it.
If it wants to be like Russia, it should do it.
But it is trying to be both, it can't
I think Ukraine pushed Russia away, Russia was so much into the country. Russians walk around like it is a part of Russia, much as the Americans walk in Canada. |
