Hello I am thinking of getting the visa support from waytorussia,
but would like to know if it is going to be OK.
My whole family are travelling but we are spread over 3 countries
UK, Sweden, New Zealand. (ALL NZ passports..)
I read in the FAQ's that there is some problem with Sweden so what can be done instead?
Does anyone have any experience with the NZ embassy?
(presume no troubles in UK)
also the nz embassy requires originals of all the things below?
4. A standard tourist confirmation ("Podtverzdeniye") and a tour voucher from an authorized hosting Russian travel agency, registered with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Confirmation carries a REFERENCE-NUMBER of the hosting company (which confirms that this company is allowed to receive foreign tourists), personal data of each tourist, dates of trip, itinerary in Russia, services as paid. Confirmation and voucher must be signed by authorised person and carry the official seal of the Russian travel company.
6. A cover letter from your travel agency in New Zealand containing:
- applicant's name or alphabetical list of a group
- dates and points of arrival and departure in and from Russia, means of transport
- itinerary in Russia
- the name of the hosting Russian company and its reference number.
I am not sure if the visa support will be enough?
any help appreciated thanks |

The New Zealand requirements sound pretty close to the Australian requirements. Basically, if you order your visa support through this site you don't need to worry about requirement No. 6 because your journey is being organised through a Russian travel agency. At most you should send your flight itinerary. All the information they ask for in requirement No. 4 is in the visa support that can be ordered through Way to Russia. But you'll have to make a special request for the original copy since a faxed copy is enough in most countries.
As for Sweden, I don't really know the situation, but it would probably be best if that family member joined the one in the UK and did it there. No problems in the UK except the queues. Post it if you have enough time. |

thanks, does anyone else have an experience of sweden? .
Also if i am applying from different countries (3 in uk, 2 in NZ)
then should I apply for 2 different sets of visa supports (1 for the UK applicants, 1 for NZ?)
and yet another question! - I know that you need to register your visa within 72 hours excluding weekends when you get to Russia.
but we will be in russia for just under 5 days, and 2 are the weekend so we will be under the 72 hr limit for registering the visa.
What would happen if we leave the country without registering? any problems?. The reason I ask is that we have seen that apartments are cheaper than hotels, but to register the visa is a lot more if you stay in an apartment vs staying in a hotel. Thanks heaps |

Hi,
Yeah, I had some experience with the consulate of Stockholm and I confirm you that it is quite hard to get touristic visas there. With four friends, we wanted to go to Saint Petersburg for one week. As usual, the hostel, where we planned to stay, sent us the vouchers and the visa support letters. Once at the embassy, I gave all those papers with the other required (insurance, formulate...) ones and the result was quite unexpected. It was my first request in Sweden (after four positive requests in Paris without any problem) and I was quite astonished. For me, it was OK because I went many times to Russia and I came back in the delays so the consulate woman was quite nice. But for my friends it was not the same. Although I spoke Russian with her in order to make her mood better, she refused the requests of my friends. There were two reasons: the first is that for one guy, the dates on the invitation were larger than the dates he asked for on the application form (only one day) and so it was refused (although everything was OK for this period). The second reason is that the consulate woman requested a proof that the whole stay in the hostel was paid in advance, I was even said that they asked this way because the invitation is emitted by a non-recommandable company (it is strange because I had no problems in Paris with this company and my stay was pleasant). It is really astonishing because it is written on the cover letter that we have paid the whole stay. Nevertheless, she required a receipt from the hostel to prove that everything was paid... After three "trips" to the embassy, our requests were finally approved but I know that it is sometimes even harder to get a touristic visa in Stockholm: some guys were asked the original of the invitations and of the vouchers, faxes were refused... Nevertheless, the good point of this embassy is that you nearly do not have to wait and you can arrive only ten minutes before the opening, there will be nearly nobody. At least, it was the situation in December. But it is the sole advantage of this embassy. So, I would advice to avoid this embassy if you can. |

Well, there are certain unscrupulous companies trying to do russian-style business by selling 30 bucks papers on which "is written that we have paid the whole stay". Like thay say in Russin - on a fence it's also written |
