I am travelling in June so have heard that it might be difficult to buy tickets if I was to wait and buy them at the station so I am thinking about booking tickets in advance. As we will be travelling in Asia for 5 months before we go on the train, we need to be able to pick up the train tickets in Beijing, although I will be able to get internet access so not being able to book until 45 days prior is not a problem.
Does anybody know the easiest way we can do this?

Thanks Very Happy

You can book tickets through this website. You should send your order about 2 or 2.5 months before your travel date. Alternatively, by that time (the start of April) you will also be able to book through our new website:

It says that tickets can only be picked up in Moscow on this site?

What a fantastic effort! Congratulations to all involved.

I will be going through China next week en route to Russia and found the information pertaining to Harbin station especially useful as we will be going from there to Heihe by train.

Thanks, Nikir. I'm glad you found it useful. There are still a few glitches with the hotel/restaurant/nightlife reviews, as I'm sure you noticed. But hopefully it will all be working properly soon.

Please tell other people about it. And have a great trip!

I did this journey in May 2008 from Beijing to Moscow non stop.

I used the booking dept of CITS (Chinese tourist board).

It was very easy payment can be made by Paypal and you pick up the tickets at their office in Bejing.

Details on their Web site cits.net

The man to contact if he has the same job is Chen Hong and his email is
chenh@cits.com.cn

If you email him he will send you prices which are very competitive payment in US dollars.

The journey is great and i hope you enjoy it as much as I did

Well we made it through all the obstacles. there were a few. Nothing insurmountable though. Navigating Harbin station and buying tickets for the Harbin to Heihe train with 40 minutes till departure was the biggest challenge. Now safely ensconsed in Russia and getting ready to party.

Hi Natalie,

Later this year I'll be doing the same trip as you, from Beijing to Moscow, and I will also be travelling in asia for a couple of months.

May I ask you how you arranged your visa to Russia?

On this site it says that a visa to Russia can only be obtained in your country of residence, not at any other embassy. Getting mine back home is no optione since the visa is only valid for 3 months.

Thanks. Any help is welcome :-)
