Just curious...

I took a girlfriend to Moscow and St. P. last summer and it took us some real effort to make sure we got rooms with king sized beds instead of rooms with two beds. I would have thought that a couple sharing a room alone would have defaulted to a single bed, or that it would at least be a question, but instead it required a bit of a push from me to get a "big bed."

Just a coincidence, or am I missing something cultural?

Thanks!
