Well, the only knowledge I have of how Russians view Bulgarians is the fact that my Russian girlfriend has an ex boyfriend from Bulgaria...........
So she must have liked him for a bit....
But apparently he went crazy....
So if you're a sane Bulgarian, you probably don't have anything to worry about other than having to fight off fit Russian girls with a shitty stick.

Unfortunately bulgarians and BULGARS in Tatarstan are two different peoples.
Bulgars were union of tribes which formed Volzhskaya Bulgaria which then was occupied and destroyed by mongols (now population of Tatarstan is mostly descendants of mongol-tatars).
Bulgarians is a slav tribe with significant turk influence but in russian history there wasn't any bulgarian influence (I mean ancient history). But certainly russians, bulgarians and other slav tribes were together in 5-6 century A.D. |

If I am not mistaken it's a point of view of russian historical science
But still I'll have a look in my books, maybe I forgot some details. |

Ah, when I said the only thing a Bulgarian would have to worry about was beating Russian girls off with a shitty stick, I didn't mean it in a bad way, sorry.
It's an English phrase, basically meaning that there are so many girls throwing themselves at you (because they like you), that you have to physically fight them off..........
Hopefully not LITERALLY using a shitty stick, as that would cause a bit of a mess......
But, it raises a good point, sometimes I speak to my girlfriend and she doesn't know what I'm talking about when I use a lot of Liverpudlian phrases, that just get lost in translation. |
