Hi,
I'm filling in a visa application form (form 95), and it asks for
details of health insurance - I don't have any and I wasn't
planning on getting any as I'm from the UK, and I've been
told theres a reciprocal health care agreement with Russia.
Could you tell me if its nessesary for me to arrange for some
travel insurance in order to obtain a visa / entry into Russia?

Peter,
I'd suggest that being "told" won't cut it for a Visa Application. Go to the two horses mouths. Ask the Russian Embassy/Consulate, and then ask the UK health people and get it in WRITING!. I know that Australia has (had?) a reciprocal arrangement with UK public health and it is documented.

I've had to get medical insurance every time I've gone to Russia.

I left the health cover part of that form blank. There was no problem and my tourist visa was granted fine.

I understand too that there is a reciprocal agreement. However i would recommend taking out some cover anyway, that way you can if needed rely on it for a full medical repatriation with escort back to the UK etc. I used www.atlasdirect.net. I used them previously for a trip to the USA and now next week for Moscow. They offer short priod cover or annual multi trip cover of various levels. Easy to arrange online and it only cost me £13.18 !

I would look at something like that, for the cost it gives you peace of mind !

There is a recipricol agreement with Russia,

I am also from th UK and was advised to get personal health cover to be sure.

I did not have to supply any evidence of this when applying for a visa just put a tick in the apropriate section.
