| Do Marshrutkas run from the international airport to the city? Even if they go to the closest metro would be fine. Don't want to get a taxi as they will try and rip me off. Thanks |

They surely work on this route. You'll notice those yelloy Gazelles with the number and route plates on the sidewall.
I'm not sure about the current price, should be not more than 30 rubles.
Be ready to the problem of "where to put my suitcase?". The owners of marshrutkas do not care about this problem at all, also - many russians would use these cars as well, so it will be crowded. |

| If you have only 1 piece of lightweight, small luggage, you'll probably have to put it on your lap for the duration of the ride. I don't know if marshrutka drivers care if a person sits in a seat or if a piece of luggage sits in a seat, just so long as the seat is paid for. You might consider paying for the seat next to you if you have a large piece of luggage that you do not want to carry on your lap. It depends on how the seating is configured and where you sit in the marshrutka. Some seats have enough room to put luggage at your feet, other seats don't. Try to be one of the first people to board the marshrutka so you can look at the seating and decide where is the best place for you to sit. |

It's a bit late to reply but then the answer will be here for the nextperson who needs to know.
To get a minibus, you have to get out of the airport, immediately turn left, crossing the aggressive crowd of bloody taxi drivers trying to rip you off (the chief of that little mafia is the first person you'll see outside, not the best first impression...), then wait 5 minutes maximum at the bus stop. All buses stop at the station Moskovskaya. I'm not sure where they go after that, except that one goes to Sennaya square.
The fare has increased a lot recently but it is still under 30 roubles (under 1 dollar, now), so if you have a lot of luggage, just pay 2 seats and put your luggage on the second seat. If you can speak Russian, you can call 007 to order a taxi, they are realiable and have decent prices, it will cost you about 500 to go to Moskovskaya, maybe 700 (20 dollars) to reach the center.
If you want more comfort, you can call Taxi Blues (they're in the yellow pages...). If I remember they are about 40% more expensive, but I haven't used them in a while, 007 is ok for me.
Anyway the price of the metro coin (yeah, strange system) has rocketed to 20 roubles, you get a little discount if you buy a plastic card with 20 rides or more, but then you have to buy the plastic card first, about 30 roubles. |
