The only way - in a million years - that I would send that much money in or out of Russia is via a wire transfer from my banks wire department. Period. Any other method would expose you to fees and the chance of fraud.

Paypal? Please. They'd want to charge you a fee based upon the transaction amount - at least 2%. You should not pay a few based upon the amount - that's just plain crazy.

I've sent many tens of thousands and dollars back and forth between banks via wire transfers and, if I paid a fee at all, it was something like $15. If you're really talking 30,000 USD, then you have a relationship with both banks most likely. I find it hard to believe that you would be charged a fee at all.

Note that brokering institutions in the US are required by law to *report* any transaction over $10,000 US (and record anything > $3000 US), so unless you're trying to do this on the sly, I can't imagine why you just wouldn't ask your bank to do it.

Smile

Russian banks are far far worse then you can imagine. It's a big question where the fare will be more - on PayPal or in a Russian bank...

Even when you go abroad from Russia, you're asked to declare money if the summ is greater than 5000 USD.

So sending such summ via wiretransfer is also not that easy.
