I was in Russia a few months ago and forgot to exchange the Rubles into U.S. dollars. I was told that I can do this at any major airline terminal. Is that true? If not, is there any other place in the U. S. where I can make this exchange. It totals to about $400.00 U. S. dollars. Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks

First, where are you located in the US? Not sure about the airline terminals, but I know there are few foreign exchange banks in Katonah, NY, Mount Kisco, NY and Chappaqua, NY.

Hope I helped you..

That's bad. Rubles are hard to get rid of. Nobody wants them.

You should be able to exchange rubles to dollars in major banks in major US cities. I know several banks in Seattle will take them on the spot provided the amount you are exchanging is less than $100 worth. For more than $100 in rubles you have to give them advance notice and fill out some paperwork.

If you went to a bank in Bum£uck, Kansas trying to exchange rubles you'd probably be laughed all the way to the parking lot. Your best bet is to go to a bank in a big city, preferably on one of the coasts.

Thank you for your response. I am located in Allentown, PA. I am familiar with Mount Kisco, NY, I have relatives not too far away from Mt. Kisco. Would you possible have an address or exact location? Thanks!

I would ask my local bank (or a local branch of a national bank) for help. They probably can't do it themselves, but would know how far up the food chain you'd have to go and what the closest possibilities would be.

It has been several years since I was in NY, but it is located on Main St. in the heart of Mount Kisco. It may have changed to "Corn Foreign Exchange". You cannot miss it, it is huge and there is a large statue in the middle of the city next to it, but I think you might spend more money to drive or take a bus there. I don't think it is worth going that far to exchange.

I did do some searching for you and I found a few banks in around your city that will do currency exchange. I have a link and some phone numbers:

Also, contact the Pittsburgh International Airport. There is a place in there called, "Travelex". I do believe that is a currency exchange place. There are 2, one on the Airside-Arrivals level and in the transit level. Here is a phone number: 412-472-5151

Hope this helps you.

LOL Why would you direct Hotpink to Pittsburgh (250 miles from Allentown) when Philadelphia (50 miles) and New York (80 miles) are much closer? I guess I won't complain, the post is at least on-topic this time.

Certainly there are banks in Philly, NYC, or closer that can help.

Check also a local Russia group and post an ad. Someone might want to buy them so they do not get ripped off when they go to Russia.
I am sure you can use them in Brighton Beach, New York Smile
