Does anyone have any experience with individual tour guides? I will be in St.Petersburg in September and want to stay away from the crush and snail's pace of a big group. Any recommendations? Question

There is a link on this site http://www.waytorussia.net/Services/Tours/StPetersburg.html
or you can take your chances and find a tour guide on Nevsky Pospekt, usually around Kazan Cathedral.

It depends on what you want to see in Saint-Petersburg. If you like standart excursion program you will have no problems in finding guides by internet for 30-100 $ a day. If you want to see something more than museums and restaurants, contact me cuatru@yahoo.com

I just returned from St. Petersburg and had a terrific guide who was knowledgeable about history , art , music and the city in general. Perfect English too. She usually works through a large agency, but you can save a lot of money by booking her directly.

Her name is Marina Prudnikova - prudn@yahoo.com - She is an official guide to the Hermitage and all of the significant museums, so she can avoid the crowds and 'pave the way'.[/list]
