|
|
Hi,
I will be travelling to Volgograd, but first must fly to Moscow Domodedovo Airport and take the Aeroexpress train links Paveletsky station and from there catch a train to Volgograd. I have a full day between when I arrive in the airport in Moscow and when the train leaves for Volgograd. Can I store my luggage in the Train Station in a locker, check out Moscow for a few hours, and then pick up my luggage and catch the train in the evening? Is this a safe thing to do? Thanks. |

Yes you can do it and yes it is perfectly safe.
Paveletskty has a large storage room, look for the sign Камера Хранение not far from the airline baggage check in.
Then it's only about 3 stops on the metro to red square. |

hi, thanks for the advice, can you help me out with a few more questions:
1. do I have to buy my train tickets in advance or can I buy them when I get to the station? Is there somewhere I can order them online?
2. Also do I have to buy the Aeroexpress Train Link ticket from Domodedovo Airport to Paveletsky station in advance or do I just buy it at the airport when my flight arrives?
3. What hours do the storage rooms operate. My flight comes in at 4am so I'll probably arrive at the station early in the morning and then my train doesnt leave till midnight so I'll be spending most of the day in Moscow. When I get back to the station will I still be able to get my luggage from the storage room or do they close at night?
4. I wasn't sure what you meant by the storage room being not far from the airline baggage check-in. I wanted to store my luggage at the train station, not the airport, as this would allow me to travel to the centre of Moscow for the day before catching my train in the evening.
I have been to Moscow a couple years ago, but this was through an exchange program in school, so I am familiar with the city, but a lot of the arrangements in terms of travel and visa were done with help. Now I am arranging to visit friends but am making the arrangement myself. I have taken Russian Language in school but am only a begginer. I decided it was too expensive to stay overnight in Moscow and would time my flight so that I could spend most of the day there before catching the train. If there are any websites that I can order these tickets online could you let me know and any other advice would be great! Thank you. |

You can buy in at the station, but in high season ( e.g. before new year ) there may be no tickets and it is better to order them in advance.

You must buy it in airport ( some airlines offer free aeroexpress to their passengers ) and they are not sold in advance.

I guess it is 24h. and... there is one problem. first aeroexpress from domodedovo departs 7am. There are also regular commuter trains at 5:01 and 6:18, and numerous buses.

It is located in the train station. There is an airline check-in for domestic airlines where you can check it in before you board Aeroexpress, so you do not have to walk to and fro with all suitcases in airport. |
