I plan to touch down in the Motherland a few days prior to Victory Day. How does one get a decent view of it? Is there a sale of tickets? If so, where can I buy one? Does one just randomly show up in Red Square? Where is the best place to stand? What is everyone's experience with the Muscovite Victory Day, who has been there? What time should one arrive? Etc.

Really like the general buzz of excitment around Red Square. Plenty of visitors all year round. Its grandly beautiful too, of course.

Visited numerously in mid-winter and early autumn in recent times. Haven't been there on Victory Day. Would be quite an experience!

What annoyed me was each time I'd organise to go to Red Square, Lenin's mausoleum was closed. Not that I'm too fond of seeing dead people. But, Lenin was a world-changing guy!

The May 9 ceremony in Red Square is CLOSED to the public. Invitation only. Unless you're VVP's next door neighbor, you ain't getting in. In fact the entire area becomes off-limits.

The parade usually starts at Belarusskaya Metro and runs up the Tverskaya. Lots of security (OMON) and at approximately Pushkin Square, the street becomes closed to the public and you may go no further.
