Any advice with the following welcome - I have obtained my visa to visit Russia and used the service on WAYTORUSSIA to get my tourist invitation document - at the time I was planning to go to Moscow and St petersburg and there are 2 hotels listed on the document (which I will not be staying at). Plans changed as follows - arrive in Moscow sunday and hotel stay till Tues - train to Bryansk Tues night arrive Wed AM and stay with my girlfriends family until Thurs night train back to Moscow and hotel stay Fri to Sun then depart.

My questions are what do I tell authorities on entering country - what is on my visa or my updated plans? Do I need anything special for the brief stay in Bryansk? Will registration at the first hotel cover my stay?

thanks for any advice

As far as I can see, no worries.

I've entered Russia 6 times so far, and the Passport Control officers don't ask me anything. They are a taciturn lot. (Who knows, maybe I just look harmless.) But you probably won't hear any questions about your travel plans - Passport Control's only concern will be, "is this person authorized to enter Russia on this date?" And it is quite common for people to visit towns not on their invitation letter.

Bryansk is not (to my knowledge) a restricted destination, so no problems there. And you don't need to register someplace until you're there 3 working days, so your Moscow registration is sufficient.

Just to be on the safe side, keep with you a copy of your ticket or some other proof of your travel to Bryansk. This way, in the unlikely event that a police officer should demand to see your papers while you're in Bryansk, you can show that it is not necessary for you to be registered there.

I hope you enjoy your trip!
