I have a random question. I got married to a Russian man in Las Vegas, NV last year. We are planning on visiting his family in Russia/Ukraine sometime at the end of this year. My question is: Do I have to get a Russian visa? Or is there any way I could enter Russia on the basis of my status as his wife? Can I get a Russian permanent residency on that basis if we decide to stay with his family for a couple of years? Please help us. Thank you.

Being married to a Russian dose not give you any status what so ever. You must always apply for a visa.
It is almost impossible to obtain a Russian citizenship, You would be better off applying for a long term visa and renueing it when needed.

Russia and the Ukraine are two different countries. You will need a visa from each of them in order to enter. Your husband needs no visa to go to the Ukraine.

There is a series of travel books you will find very helpful. Go to the bookstore and look for "Let's go, Eastern Europe". It details all the information you will need. Then all you have to do is mess with the Russian bureauracracy. Good luck.
