Invitation number on visa?

Shialao Just Starting Joined: 26 Jun 2009 Posts: 1	Posted: Fri Jun 26, 2009 5:53 pm    Post subject: Invitation number on visa? Hi there, I have a question and hope somebody can help me. I'll soon be going to Russia again. I was at our consulate today to apply for a visa (Tourist visa) and everything was fine. Now I have a problem though and don't know if I've got to go there again. When I got my passport back I quickly checked the visa as they tell you to do, I didn't see any typos and such and thought everything was correct. When I looked at my passport again on the way home however I saw that under "No Prigl./Invitation No." there was nothing! I now checked on the Net and on most pictures of visa there doesn't seem to be any either. I'm asking this because the last times I went I had either a Business or a Student Visa and these times there was an Invitation No. indicated on the Visa. So my question is: should an invitation number be on the tourist visa? Thanks a lot in advance for any help!!!

However, I just got back from a trip that included a short stay in the formerly closed town of Polyarnye Zori. The hotel staff there did not like my visa, but the reason was never made entirely clear. Once I was able to produce a copy of my invitation, the hotel staff was happy. Take along a copy of your invitation just in case you need this number.
