Doesn't Russia want people to visit?

I had a perfectly good WORD document of the Visa app that I used in 2005. For this year, I modified it with the new information, and then checked the consluar website to find there is a NEW FORM that asks exactly the same questions as the OLD FORM, in slightly different order. But is a PDF file and cannot be modified, so one must fill it out with a PEN.

And, there is a rule that only one character goes in each box. MANY of the questions (hotels, countries visited in last 10 years) require far more room than provided. I'm working on a continuation sheet, but who knows if they'll accept it.

Does anyone know where you can get the new form as a WORD file???

To answer the second question, this URL:

http://www.russianembassy.org/CONSULAT/Anketa04.doc

is the visa application form for U.S. citizens in Word format. Because it comes from the website of the Russian Embassy in Washington DC, we can hope that Russian consulates in America will accept it Confused

To answer the first question, if the Russian Federation wants people (from countries that didn't used to be part of the Soviet Union) to visit, they have an odd way of showing it. But of course, the U.S. visa system is even unfriendlier to Russians. Embarassed

This is the same form I used before, and the one from the Consulate in San Francisco (where I will be turning in my application) is different! - and labeled as "new".

Yes, they do have a strange way of showing it.
