The reigning authority on driving around Russia is DITTRICH. He has loads of experience and lots of tips. Usually posts in Transport or Travel Advice folders.
Hope he sees and answers your post. If not, PM him. |

That will be interesting. You will have to keep to the leftside of the road whilst driving, of course.......
So, what's the deal with Russians + continental Europeans driving their cars to/within the UK, with their steering wheel "not" being on the rightside of the vehicle?
Perfectly legal? |

1 Loads of Russians go on holiday in europe in their own russian cars.
2 Russians should now be able to buy a green card from a russian insurance company. You need to have a word with your russian insurance company and they should issue one to you valid for the EU. make sure the green card shows all the countries you will be visiting.
Russian Insurance Policy? (+sticker on windscreen) and green card.
3 License is British - no problem.
4 Passport - common sense.
5 Russian equivalent of the V5C (to prove you are the owner and don't need a doverenost to drive it). I'd take the original and some colour photocopies.
6 Russian equivalent of the MOT (technicheski osmotre) as if you do have an accident, questions may be asked. Again original and some colour photocopies.
7 Your insurance documentation and green card obviously.
8 In Russia you would be driving with a 1949 IDP? No? Take it.
Some of the above is required, some just common sense in case of need.
It's what I'd take anyway.

RHD vehicles with single occupants must REVERSE through autoroute toll gates in order to speak easily to the cashier or use the credit card machines. Only Joking! But maybe one day I'll try it just to see the look on their faces.
