| www.rmp.ru is a great free site for Russian MP3s. They have plenty of US and British music here - my current love interest in Chuvashia has the same favorite song that I do (The Scientist by Coldplay.) |

>> liked to listen to Rammstein ..
Alice: this is a major gay band. have you heard the English translation?
B-2: good stuff; walked into a Moscow club (PMJ, at Marino metro stop)
and there they were, up close!
Aria: awesome! Russia needs more.
Russia needs to outlaw disco. That would probably start the
2nd Russian revolution
Black Sabbath - probably still what I listen to most;
Mettalica - Kirk Hammet's a technical virtuoso;
Megadeth - fun stuff.
Any American singers wanna hook up with me, to form a heavy-metal
rock band in Russia?
[OR: any Russian singers that can speak English well?]
(Also seeking a keyboard player). I've got an Ibanez guitar, a
100W Marshall stack, Yamaha SY7 keys, mics, etc. (no PA) over there. |

I've been discovered!

"mullet"? is Fauste trying to invent words?

"Megadeth"

Les Paul is made by Gibson, unless times have changed (?). Also a great
guitar. but heavy, no wanger bar.
I have 2 Ibanezes: an Iceman (Kiss/Zombie). that's ok, but old generation.
#2 is a JS1000. This is the *best* guitar. It's like the autobahn,
the only speed limit on the notes is you. Maple fretboard similar to
a strat. Costs $1,000 though. Joe Satriani (music teacher of my music
teacher) apparently worked on the specs with Ibanez. Friggin' excellent
Question: driving thru the Russian border (e.g., Latvia), what kind of
customs duties do them rastamojniki throw at you? (I gonna carry more
music gear like this guitar, and about 7 hard drives, total worth ~$3K;
all personal effects) |

Epiphone is also making les pauls cause they and Gibson were one company
here's their webpage http://www.epiphone.com/
Also Ibanez made some les paul models but then they stopped doing this because they didn't have rights to do it
and now only three manufacturers make les paul guitars: Gibson, Epiphon (A part of the Gibson family of brands) and chinese guys who give a shit on all rights which are always reserved
BTW, Joe Satriani was a teacher of Kirk Hammit, it's your music teacher? |

Again proving you wrong. Even there is a website based on this DO. Sorry is it Megadaf? Cool vids, but overall for me the band was a waste of time. Sabbath is cool and old Metallica is cool. I recently listened to Russian cover of an Ac/Dc song. It sucked, but in general this Russian band was good.
Most talented ever (not necessary the best music) was Rush . |

I?more into classical music. - Just for the music anything by Sir Yehudi Menuhin is superb. I came to know him many years ago (before his death, clearly) and it was a tremendous encounter. Such an unusual man - but human!!!
For direct music experience with life performances I am quite a follower of the Argentinian tenor Marcello Alvarez. Tremendous voice, sensible, honest person. Very good, talented actor, too.
What?s more? - I will never become tired of Schubert?s Lieder, this melancolic happiness of his expression... Bach sonatas, Smetana?s Vltava, I think you will agree with me, even if you are into Metallics.
A singer in Prague that I like much is Jazz singer Pruchov?, and Sephardic sopranist Jana Lewitov?.
All amazing!
Don?t get me started on music, I am not able to come up with ONE final choice.
Among the men, I like Karel Gott?s voice a lot (=the golden voice of Prague) and Andrea Bocelli, the Italian "romance" singer.
Cheers to all,
Babuschka |
