My girlfriend and I want to get married

Bryant Just Starting Joined: 15 Oct 2008 Posts: 7	Posted: Fri Aug 07, 2009 9:58 pm    Post subject: My girlfriend and I want to get married My girlfriend has come into the US on a work visa/student exchange program (i think this is what it is), and has been in the US for 2 months now. She is about to try and get a tourist visa (i think that's what it is) that will allow her to stay an additional 6 months. Once she gets this, sometime during that 6 months we would like to be married. My question is, will our marriage be legally binding in the US? Can we just be married and be happy, or do we have to file papers, show proof of income, etc....just to get married? Please forgive me in advance if i sound ignorant of laws, etc. I'm just a guy who loves his girl and wants to marry her. Thanks for all your help.
