I am planning to travel to Russia after travels through Africa and Middle East. I will be in Cairo for 2/3 days in mid Dec, then will travel through Middle East until 5/6 Jan.
I am wanting to fly to Moscow as quickly as possible after arriving in Istanbul.
Does anyone know whether it is possible to submit visa application in Cairo and have it posted to Istanbul for collection? (I will be travelling on my Australian passport between those countries).
Also, expected timeframes in obtaining visa in either Cairo or Istanbul?
Thank you

People frequently ask about getting a visa to Russia while away from their home country. In most cases, this is either very difficult or impossible. Even if you can get a visa abroad, you may be in a foreign country without your passport (and therefore unable to leave) for 2 weeks.

The most practical way for most travelers to get a Russian visa is in their home (passport) country. If you're in Australia (or Eire) at the moment, then apply for your visa now! Otherwise, I don't see how the itinerary you described can be practical.

Can't be done. The regulations tightened up a few years ago now. If you are travelling as a tourist you are very much restricted to applying for a Russian visa in your home country.
