Hello!
I'm wondering if is possible to cross the sea from Russia to Alaska by a ship, a freighter or something similar ...
I don't want to cross the Bering Strait... I just want to cross from the Northern Harbor I can ...
Which is the northern port reachable by road? Is possible to reach Provideniya, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky or Anadyr by boat and then catch a commercial ship to Nome or another Alaska port?
I can't really understand what I really need to do that and which shipping companies I have to look for...
Thank you! |

Probably, it is rather difficult to do what you are proposing. I don't know anything about the travel logistics, but there is a little bureaucratic challenge.
When you leave the Russian Federation, either you must make sure that you are processed by a Passport Control officer, or you will find it difficult or impossible to enter Russia in the future. So if you want to keep open the option of returning to Russia, you must find out how to manage this at your port of debarkation. It may turn out to be no problem at all, but I would want to investigate this question as part of planning the expedition. |

Ok... so, for the bureaucratic part I'll look for something in Alaska to record my leaving from Russia.
How much time takes to get the touristic VISA? It should be quite easy for me as Italian .. isn't it?
Anyway, above all, I need information about public transports and Harbors (boats and freights routes) in Kamchatka/ Chukotka! |

You shouldn't have difficulty getting a tourist visa, but tourist visa is only good for 30 days. If you can reach one of those points within that time.
By the way, you have to get processed when departing Russia. To exit Russia, your visa serves as exit visa. You can't skip that. No one will process your Russian visa/immigration status in Alaska. Simply put, Alaska isn't Russia. Even if you manage to sneak out and have entry stamp at the port of entry in Alaska, that doesn't mean jack. If you don't plan on returning to Russia, that's fine, but if you want to return some day, you better leave Russia in proper way. Logically speaking, if there are unchecked shipping lines between Alaska and those Russian ports, there'd be thriving smuggling business. If there were, you probably should stay far and clear from that.
What is the purpose of this particular itinerary? Do you have to get to Alaska this way? |

I thought that in every port there are offices for the passport control and passenger customs to check the VISAs of the international ships crews... isn't it?
But why you talk about smuggling... I'm obviously looking for legal ways to cross the sea ... There aren't ship routes for any commercial exchanges between Russia and US? The Cold War is over since 1991 ...
Anyway, my purpose for this trip is just for an uncommon adventure ... I think that reach America from Europe without any flight is certainly more exciting than do a 12hours trip in a plane without see any places which you fly over...
I would like to visit Kamchatka .... I like wild nature ... |
