In other words, becoming a citizen of the Russian Federation would not impair your US citizenship status. Perhaps some countries require that before you can become a citizen, you must legally renounce any previous citizenship. I don't know whether this is true in Russia. But as polarrrbear posted, residency is quite distinct from citizenship.
