Hello,
I am visiting Moscow from Feb 5 -27 2005. I had planned to stay with friend. I have read the new registration laws. If I check in Hotel only for couple of days but they do not want to date registration stamp for entire period of stay. Will I have problems with immigration? I order visa support on-line through different site. They will not register for me. What should I do?

You are right about hotels they would not do it for a stranger. But I have connection with some hotel staff, so if you need help regarding this matter, you can call me +7 926 5258533 and I will tell you where to go. They only charge half of one day stay and you get registration for the whole period!

PS If I'm not available on my mobile, then just send me a private message trough this forum.

I just returned from Moscow and i didnt register for 15 days. I arrived Dec. 29th and it says i have 3 days to do this. I went there the 30th and i forgot my Migration card but they gave me all papers and said that i can come back after holidays and they will stamp it. So i went back to OVIR on Jan 12th and the guy working there said he can not stamp it but it will be stamped the 14th. So i went back on the 14th and it was stamped and when i left Russia i had no problems. Also my Russian friends said that Registration is not a big deal in Russia, (like if police stop you they wont say anything about it) Because i got stopped by Russian Army man and they looked at my passport and didnt say anything about it. SO goodluck

You were just lucky - this New Year there were 10days lolidays for all govermental services, so they were overloaded right before and after. Custom officers considerrred that and didn't make you any problems.

Yes, police won't say anything, they will just detain and fine you Smile

They are not police and have different responsibilities - to look for explosives, weapon and maintain order in public places.
