Hello,

Would someone please list the steps\actions required to travel to Russia? I am going with a friend and will stay at her family's house in Kranodar then with a friend in Moscow. I think I requested the invitation on the waytoruss.net site, but I am good at confusing myself. I have already bought my airline tickets.

I have read through the travel advice postings, but still need help. For example, what is a tourist voucher and tourist invitation. Also any lessons learned regarding paperwork from prior trips to Russia would be helpful.

I need instructions that are monkey simple==so easy a chimp could understand.

Thanks
Confused, but can't wait to get to Russia!

I encourage you to visit the Russian Embassy web site. They explain everything and you won't be getting any information second hand. But since you have already bought your airline ticket you better hurry. The first thing you need is an invitation, which is difficult for for the individual host, better to use a visa service near you. It's an added expense but faster. I believe the visa services have one day, 3 day, and one week service to receive your visa, and they most times also supply the invitation. For example, Red Star Travel did everything for me in three days the last time I went, invitation and visa. They have a web site if you want to check them out www.travel2russia.com .

There is a lot of paperwork involved for travelling to Russia. My advice is to have everything in order well in advance of your departure. The information provided on this site is accurate, but you may want to check the Russian Embassy site as well. Here is a link for the one in Canada. http://www.rusembcanada.mid.ru/
