hello all,

a friend and i are hoping to go to st. petersburg for a few days this upcoming late-january / early-february.

i'm having some extreme difficulty in finding an on-line source where i can book train travel tickets between tallinn and st. petersburg. the link on this site simply says there are no trains between the two cities.

is this because of the time of year? is it impossible to get between these two places at this time?

any assistance would be extremely appreciated -- and what a fantastic web resource!

yrs,
mark

The Tallinn/St. Petersburg train has been an on and off love affair over the years. I believe it is currently off.

There is bus transport between the two cities, I believe that currently the bus is your only choice.

But just for fun here is a link to Russian railways, RZD

Odd, I just had a closer look at the RZD website and it doesn't list a Moscow/Tallinn train? I've been on that train.

Looking at RZD you'll notice there is a Russian language option. Russia is terrible about translating website information, they just throw in parts of it in English and leave the rest forgotten. (Aeroflot is the worst). If you read Russian, ping the Russian language button on RZD.

But there is still no train between Tallinn and St. Petersburg currently.

I think I have just discovered why the Moscow/Tallinn train is not listed on RZD--it's not a RZD train. It does still exist however....(which doesn't help you at all).

Here's another link for trains from Estonia:

Good website, but still no train to St. Petersburg.
