Hi all,
I've been inspired lately by this Asian American expat who has a site and movement promoting the idea that going overseas will cure loneliness and alienation problems in America. He claims that people are friendlier and more inclusive overseas, and that women are more approachable and down to earth as well, making it easier to get dates. Have any of you found that to be true?
I saw his comparison chart here of key differences between the US and most other countries. They make other countries sound like some kind of a "social/dating paradise". How accurate are these comparisons? I know nothing is 100 percent true or false, so what degree of accuracy would you assign the comparisons in this chart?
“Note: This forum will not allow links by new members. To see the site I’m referring to, go to Google and type “Happier Abroad Comparisons”.”
The testimonials on his site seem pretty authentic too.
He also has some entertaining videos showing how much friendlier people (especially girls) were during his trips overseas.
What do you all think? Have any of you been overseas and found yourself less lonely or not lonely at all? Was it easier to make friends or get dates?
If so, then I'd love to travel or maybe even live overseas. But which country should I go to? I have no idea where to start or how to choose.
I was going to ask these questions in the forum of the site I mentioned above, but I figured that they might be a little biased, so I came here to try to get a more neutral third-party perspective first.
Also, do you think loneliness is a reflection of problems in society or of problems in the individual? I've heard people making arguments for both sides. I know that no one likes to accept blame and that people prefer to blame others or external circumstances, but seriously, how can we truly know whether the problem is in us or in society?
Thanks. |

People in Russia are as cold as the weather. All rellationships here are governed by money. A girl who works in a bank one day aproached me, wilst I was there, and asked if I would not like her to be my gilfriend, but that first she would like 5,000 euros! This also happend in a window shop, though for only 4,000 euros.
There are no sentiments here, just hores.
This is the same with men. A trader from an investment bank swiped much money from my account after being overly friendly. He has now left the bank with his colleague and manager, who I guess must have shared the pot. And I have not heard from any them since.
If you want warmth in people, then you should go to warm countries like Costa Rica. But there you have just one season and plenty of cocroaches...
In France the pigs are agressive, so watch out.
Although in a cold climate, Irish girls are the best.
You might want to try the 'mercury restaurant' in Tokio. They serve delicious dolfin flesh marinated in a cesium sauce and with that offer a complementry iodine and uranium coctail.
Good luck |

My God, Listvyanka, that's quite funny!
Don't you think that relationships everywhere on this planet are governed by money? And that it's kind of normal, that's why the money is there and not something else (well, now it's Facebook maybe with their omnipresent imbecile "like" button).
Anyways, you've got quite a grim view on this world, may I ask you who you are? What do you do? How old are you? I just want a clearer picture. But you are funny, so keep on writing! And join our Facebook page! |

When I am asked what I do I reply that I am a spy. As Russians have no humour this is not taken very well.
I too could not restrain myself from having a laugh but as you asked I am French and have left the country precisely because the pigs there beat me up, and as I was regularly stopped and harassed by them, I desided to go.
The democratic system which the brits want to impose on Lybia is not all that rosy either: think of the resent street demonstrations in the uk...
And the situation in Japan is not so funny either. The japs are trying to save their power plant as it is the only way for them to get as much energy as they used before but
We know that their island can no longer hold so many people: all the food produced is radioactive, so are the fish. They might as well go to China.
For much the same reason it dose not make much sence fot them to start rebuilding.
They should instead fill their plant with concreat to stop the leakage and get out. But much like all triffids, they do not care about the plants, fish and animals which now have to feed off this radioactive soup.
I am not being grim here, just realistic. The world was not made to hold so many people. |

People can be generally friendlier overseas because you are the foreign oddity, the visiting tourist attraction.
Its the same nearly everywhere one goes. Its like being a celebrity without being famous. |

| As Englishmen say Who travells a lot, knows a lot. You can say one thing is better/friendlier than the other only according comparing. Everything is individually - every person, every country. One size dont't fit all. Once you travel a lot, you meet different people a lot, you make your own opinion, you find better things for YOU. Common "labels" (southern girls are hot) says about paucity of mind. Just be yourself and honest to others. Act like you want others refer to you |
